Tertiary examinations and athletic screening

Tertiary examinations

If you are applying for a tertiary dance education course, you are required under the dance council to complete a physiotherapy examination. This includes a series of tests to determine your physicality as a dancer. It is also helpful to keep a record of your strength, flexibility and technical proficiency as a dancer. It offers a baseline assessment, one that can be referred back to in times of injury.

Certificate in Dance

If you are completing your certificate IV in dance, you are be required to have a physio assessment completed. The assessment will identify areas of your body you can address in your conditioning programs. It will help you to develop your own personalised program to assist with your dance fitness. Following the assessment, you will be given a free subscription to our exercise app which you can use to develop your own exercise prescription program. You can book your tertiary physio assessment here. Assessments can be completed as a private consultation or as a group booking.

Athletic Screening

Artistic Sports Physiotherapy offers this service for all performers and athletes wanting to get a baseline of body condition. This is a great one to do at the beginning of the year, prior to starting a full time dance course or beginning a contract. You can also have follow up assessments throughout a performance season to ensure your body remains in peak condition. Your appointment involves a one hour full body assessment that includes a summary of your injury history, performance load, areas to work on, tailored exercise prescription and free subscription to our exercise app. We also use dynamometry, a device that measures your peak force rate of muscle strength. Book here for your full body assessment.
